One Million Bones
This week I went to see a new art installation here in Silver City. I had been hearing about it for awhile and was very curious. Being a lover of bones, it was on my bucket list to see before we move to the Black Hills. I was not disappointed.

One Million Bones is a multifaceted project whose primary purpose is to bring awareness to the worldwide genocides which have occurred and continue to occur.

Silver City has the honor of being the permanent home for this art installation. There is also a portion of bones displayed in Bosnia. These bones were crafted from clay and papier mache by artists from all 50 states and 30 countries. The creators were of all ages, genders and ethnicities.

It was a beautiful day when we started our hike at Bear Mountain Lodge. We were told to collect as many bones as we could carry, then follow the Old Wind Mill trail to the meadow.

There was a trail of bones leading the way. I couldn't help but think about someone finding all these bones years from now and wondering "What the hell happened here?!"

One Million Bones is a project of The Art of Revolution, an organization dedicated to leveraging the power of art to inspire activism. We believe that art is such an incredible tool with which to engage and mobilize communities around a specific social justice issue. It offers tangible a way for people to connect to things that are not presented to them daily.

As we got closer to the site we started to see many more bones. It was a sobering sight. You read about genocide, see it on the news, but when I saw all these bones it really hit me hard.

Beautiful and so very sad all at the same time. Something so simple can bring the point across so powerfully. Coming around the corner and seeing this meadow really took my breath away.

We are preaching hope, standing on the bones of the past.

If you would like to participate in the installation by transporting some bones to their permanent home just go up to the lodge at Bear Mountain. Its a beautiful place. For more info about the lodge go to www. bearmountainlodge.com

In between carrying bones from one place to another I have been busy getting ready for the next few shows.

I have four more shows to do before we move to the Black Hills. Three in Sedona, Arizona and one in Oro Valley. I'll have more information on these festivals soon.

If you would like more information about these pieces please go to my shop on www.ginnywolfstudio.com Its a good day to shop!

Have a great week. As always I love sharing music so I'll share this great old song before I go. Just watched a documentary about Peter Green. One of my favorites.
