A New Years Letter

The wheel is turning and you can't slow down,
You can't let go and you can't hold on,
You can't go back and you can't stand still,
If the thunder don't get you then the lightning will.
Another year has passed. 2020 I wanted to share some thoughts in these most turbulent and amazing times.I have these thoughts on my walks with Bella in the mornings. Here are just a few out of this monkey brain of mine.

My mother raised me to celebrate diversity. I have tried to honor her ways all these years and as a result I have friends from every walk of life. The constant I have seen in my life is that people really do have a lot in common. I was listening to a guru recently who said that there is no such thing as good people or bad people. There are miserable people and happy people. Everyday there is a chance to learn and teach. All it takes is an open heart.
So on to the meat of this letter. The most important thing to me is the environment. No matter if you are one who doesn't believe in climate change or think it's all a hoax. We all need clean water to drink, clean air to breath. We all want a beautiful planet for our grandkids to enjoy. We all want the joy of seeing an elephant or look into the eyes of a whale. No one wants to see an ocean full of plastic or watch someone we love die from cancer. WE have the choice to be an active participant in this world we live in. We are stewards of this planet and need to honor it. What can you do? Try to live lightly on the earth. There are lots of ways to lesson our footprint with endless Youtube videos that will show you the way.

Love each other. It really is that simple. Don’t let politics get in the way. Be kind to each other. It doesn't matter if your Democrat or republican, socialist or communist or just don't care about politics at all. The bottom line is most people know the difference between right and wrong. Look deep in your heart. You’ll see the right path. Ram Dass spoke about how to love yourself. He compared humans to trees. We don't look at trees and say this one is better than that one. They are just trees and they are all beautiful. Smile at strangers. Give someone a gift for no reason at all except to see them smile. Help people in need regardless of whether you think they deserve it or not. If everyone did this there would be no hunger or homelessness.
While on the subject of love. Love yourself. Be kind to yourself. IT doesn't matter what you look like or your background.Rich or poor. It's amazing how many people don't love themselves. I know our culture kind of creates this. Media is constantly showing you what you are supposed to look like, how you are supposed to act. I'm guilty, I admit it. I hate looking in the mirror. I'm constantly thinking I'm not good enough. It's an ongoing process.

Don't forget to laugh. Enjoy life, don’t wait for tomorrow to follow your bliss. Whether you believe in reincarnation or think this is it. Now is the time. This life is short. Be here now. Don’t be afraid to try new things. It doesn't matter if it's a crazy idea. AS one of my favorite people says, Yes, you're mad, bonkers, off the top of your head...but...I'll tell you a secret.
All the best people are.

I could go on and on from here but will save some of my monkey thoughts for later. I have a tradition for New Years. I like to share this video. It's called The great bell chant. Take the time to watch it if you can. It's beautiful.
Here’s one more before I go. This music is ethereal and perfect in every way. Ozgur Baba.
Happy New Year my friends. I'm traveling in Arizona for awhile, slowly making a giant loop to end up in South Dakota for late spring. Wifi is hit or miss so will list new work and post blogs when I can. Until next time….
